Average Rainfall In Costa Rica
The weather in Costa Rica is one of the many things that tourists try to look into before booking a trip to the country. With an average annual rainfall around 59 – 80 inches throughout Costa Rica rainfall is worth considering during a visit. Tourists naturally want to explore the many attractions of Costa Rica without worrying too much on the unpredictability of the weather. Costa Rica, like other tropical countries, only has two seasons - the dry season which runs from November to April and the wet season which occurs from May to November. Costa Rica rainfall is a direct result of trade wind interactions within the local topography. Rains are often triggered by moisture-laden air from the Caribbean Sea merging with the air from the coastline, with the difference in temperature enough to cause showers. The weather in Costa Rica however may vary depending on the areas of the country. This article will detail weather trends in six zones of Costa Rica rainfall – Central, North, North Pacific, South Pacific, Caribbean and Central Pacific.
