Costa Rica Weather in September

Posted on 16. Mar, 2011 by in Weather by Month

September Weather in Costa Rica makes for one of the rainiest months in the country. Even with that description however, this time of the year still does not see non-stop or extreme rain-showers. Visitors may still enjoy the hot sun and white sand that Costa Rica is known for.

One thing that truly sets Costa Rica apart from other popular beach destinations is that the weather is always perfect. The sun shines directly overhead as rain clouds roll by. What little rain that occurs happen only as the day ends, making for a perfect sunshiny beach getaway. Average weather temperatures in September range between 60-80 degrees Fahrenheit; Rainfall is reported at a stable 15 inches while humidity stays at an average of 85%.

September is big for Ticos, as visitors will soon find out. The 15th is their Independence Day which is celebrated not only all throughout the country but also with other neighboring countries as well. This day commemorates what happened years before 1821 when the nation was finally free from Spanish colonization. It is because of this joint celebration that Central American countries unite in the celebration of the event. In recent years, a torch is carried aflame by relay among the neighboring countries from Guatemala until finally commencing in Costa Rica.

Hotel Accommodations for this month is still fairly easy to come by as it is still low season and availability is high. Discounted rates are not unusual sights and are usually offered, which seasoned travelers take advantage of. Beach front resorts will also be less crowded, offering more room for enjoyment and relaxation.
