Puntarenas is a small province in the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica. It has recently undergone several changes that serve as a good example of how man’s ingenuity has heightened the beauty of nature. It is a mile long stretch of walkway where you can jog amidst a breathtaking background fluvial background or walk and savor the salty air from the ocean. There is the famed Adventure Park, Pacific Marine Park, Turtle Island as well as an Adventure Park for the young and the young at heart. You can also try the Aerial tram which is an open – air gondola that will give you a bird’s eye view of the panorama, Puntarenas – and even Costa Rica as a whole – is famous for. For the adventurous, zip lines, suspension bridges, rappel lines and Tarzan swings can definitely give that added adrenaline rush. The conventional of course, may still opt for the usual bird and wildlife watching, snorkeling and scuba diving, sport fishing and surfing.

The reason for Puntarenas popularity, aside from the obvious amenities and activities it offers, lies in the fact that, it is fairly easy to reach. You can get to Puntarenas via public transportation by ferry, train or bus or even rent a car to take you to this enchanting city. Either way is practical and inexpensive and even renting a car for your exclusive use will not break the bank.
Another thing to note is that Puntarenas is the Hub and fairy port for ground transportation to Mal Pais,Montezuma & Santa Teresa. Costa Rica weather in Puntarenas is usually hotter and more humid then San jose year round.
Puntarenas weather has bit of a humid grungy run down feel to it, but once you take the fairy to the other side its a different tropical paradise feeling completely.
