Costa Rica Capital is San Jose
The Capital of Costa Rica, San Jose is located smack in the center of the country. San jose is the most densely populated city of Costa Rica with over half of the entire costa rica population (4,580,600, July 2011 est.) in San Jose, located in a fertile valley of Central America which is also in the Andean Sierra Madre Mountain Range.
Considered one of the most metropolitan cities in Central America, Vendors of all sorts crowd the city streets which make San Jose an interesting city to explore by foot. Anything from Hotels, bars, markets, to casinos, nightclubs, and whore houses can be found in and around the city. Museums parks and churches with distinct character can be found scattered around just outside the central area.

Juan Santamaria International Airport is located about 20 minute taxi ride from the heart of the Capital. Many visitors that arrive in
the later part of the day will stay and take advantage of the city then depart for their final destination in the morning via car, bus or puddle jumper airplane. Although the city of San Jose
San Jose capital is divided into a grid like fashion with Calles(streets)running north to south and crossing perpendicular are the Avenidas(streets) East to west. Common addresses are not used in most of Costa Rica but rather distance of meters in relation to major Land marks. Your first time moving around the country will take a little getting used to but the locals are usually friendly and willing to point you in the right direction if you get lost. If you plan on moving around a lot in the city, it would be highly recommended to obtain a detailed street (Calles & avenidas) map of the San Jose central area.
Climate of the Capital of Costa Rica
The Weather in San Jose is usually a pleasant 70 to 80°F (21 to 27°C) although sometimes the temperatures can drop into the 60s at night. If you like the tropical climate without the heat and humidity of the beaches then San Jose and the surrounding mountain areas are ideal. Depending on the wind direction and season, the Cost Rica capital weather can vary at any time.
